Lion's Heart was founded in 2004 by Terry Corwin in a small Orange County, CA community. At the time Terry was looking for a volunteer organization for her 13-year-old son, Spencer. After concluding that there was no broad-based organization for teen volunteering with no fundraising, Terry created Lion's Heart. Today, there are 81 Lion's Heart chapters in 17 states and thousands of teens serving their communities.
Lion's Heart's mission is to create a world of engaged teens who volunteer and grow into community focused leaders now, and for a lifetime. The organization achieves this mission through a culture of inclusivity and focus on teen collaboration and leadership. Members are provided local volunteer opportunities throughout the year, and are encouraged to choose projects meaningful to them. Lion's Heart is proud of its Members contribution of over 600,000 hours and strong referral network - 90% of new Members join on the recommendation of family and friends.
